Another Great Reception at the Belmont Country Club in Ashburn

We have photographed many  beautiful weddings and receptions at the Belmont Country Club in Ashburn in recent years.  Mary and Stephen’s recent reception there was no exception.  A few sprinkles of rain didn’t even stop their enthusiasm for some outdoor photos!  Also see the stunning new St. John’s Church in Leesburg where they had their ceremony.  A few of the photos are shown here.  Click on the thumbnails to enlarge.  Please visit our website for further information on our photography!

A Walk in the Vineyard…Running Hare Vineyard

I knew that photographing Stephanie and Michael in their favorite vineyard would be a lot of fun.   They wanted to walk the grounds and create a nice series of portraits that would reflect their love of the place–and themselves.  Their recent reception at Running Hare Vineyards near Prince Frederick in Southern Maryland provided the perfect setting!

From a Pizza Parlor to Waterford Receptions

“You want you engagement portraits in a PIZZA Parlor?” I asked.  “That’s where we got engaged”.  Of course.  That was the start of a great relationship with Keri and Jake, whose wedding I photographed recently.  After a wonderful ceremony at a little country chapel in Prince William County, Va., they had an exciting and fun reception at the beautiful Waterford Receptions in Springfield, Va.  For more information on our Award-Winning Wedding Photography and studio, see our website at

NEW Wedding Gowns at Waterford Springfield

I was honored recently to be selected to photograph some gorgeous wedding gowns worn by equally gorgeous models at the beautiful Waterford Receptions venue in Springfield, Va.  The models and the gowns were provided by the Alfred Angelo Bridal Salon in Springfield.  See a few of the photographs here from the many I created for the Waterford and the Angelo folks.

The TWO Types of Wedding Albums…

Many couples today are often confused about the types of wedding albums available today, and I find myself often explaining the differences.  MATTED albums have each photograph individually printed and  mounted on each page.  The couple usually chooses the layout of the photographs they select.  These are more “traditional” albums although there are many varied cover treatments available.  DIGITALLY-DESIGNED albums are where the photos that are selected by the couple are arranged using sophisticated software by a (hopefully) talented designer.

Our couples can select either type of album after the wedding.  Some prefer the simplicity and elegance of the matted albums, some prefer the creative and often stunning sophistication of the digitally-designed books.  Whichever you may prefer, you can be sure your wedding photographs will look GREAT!  See our  website for more information.  Click on thumbnails to enlarge.

The Neatest Little Wedding “Albums”

Nothing is better than a nicely designed and elegant wedding album of your beautiful wedding photographs.  But would you want to lug it around and show it to your friends?  The Philip Kent Studio is now offering purse-sized “albums” that you can carry anywhere of your treasured wedding photographs!  They are printed and bound to the highest quality AND they’re surprisingly INexpensive!  When you order your digitally-designed album with us we can add a soft-cover booklet of the same larger main album.  Call us for more information and pricing at 703-790-1020.  For information on our Wedding Photography in general, also visit our website at  See a few examples of our purse albums here.  Click on each image to enlarge.

New Wedding Albums, The Sundance Film Festival

A week-long trip and plenty to see!  First a visit to the annual Professional Photographers of America convention in Atlanta to see the latest in wedding albums, equipment and new ideas for our clients.  After a brief tour of CNN to see that from the inside, it was a few days of skiing in Utah which happened to coincide with the annual Sundance Film Festival in Park City.

Sundance was created by Robert Redford to provide new and independent filmmakers a forum for showcasing their films to distributors and the public with the hope a distributor will purchase the film for general release.  Films are first reviewed by the Sundance organization and this year they selected 119 for the festival, showing them in various locations in and  around Park City and the Salt Lake area.  Dozens of distributors will review them such as Sony Pictures and CBS, as well as many smaller companies. If selected, a film may be purchased for general release to a theater near you.

This is a  great opportunity for any young filmmaker looking to break into the business.  And “festival” certainly describes the atmosphere of the place, with occasional celebrity sightings.   PS…. The weather wasn’t great, but the skiing in Utah always is!

Marriott’s Westfields Conference Center…Michele & Andrew’s Wedding

Here are a few wedding album pages from Michele & Andrew’s recent wedding at Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Fairfax and their reception at Westfield’s in Chantilly.  After a little rain slowed things down at the church things dried out and we did some beautiful photos on the grounds at Westfields.  Known for years as a large, elegant reception facility with multiple large ballrooms, Michele and Andrew’s reception was held in the beautiful upstairs promenade, not normally used for receptions but as a restaurant.

They chose one of our Leather Craftsmen leather-bound albums with a very contemporary design and layout which some couples prefer as opposed to our very popular traditional matted albums.

A few of the page spreads are shown here…just click on them to enlarge!

Here is a new  5-minute video release from the ASP long showing some of the great photographs submitted this year by some of our members!

St. Leo’s in Fairfax & the Landsdowne Resort

Malia and Jeff’s recent wedding at St. Leo’s Catholic church in Fairfax and the Landsdowne resort in Ashburn was quite an event.  The rambuncious wedding party had some recent Virginia Tech graduates (including the bride) and the reception offered quite a opportunity for some great photographs.  See a few of them here.   Also, visit our website at
